Why Lake Michigan Is One Of My Favorite Spot for Photoshoots
If you’ve done a session with us, you probably already know how much we love Lake Michigan. We get a lot of client requests for the lakeshore and we’re always willing to make the drive. The views, the light, the vibe. It’s just unbeatable. Whether I’m photographing seniors, couples, families, or little kids, the lakeshore always brings something fun and different to your session.
We usually shoot in the few hours before sunset, that way we can still catch the sun going under the horizon with plenty of time to play in the sand. Being on the lakeshore, you never know what type of lighting you’re going to get. The sunset and sky is different everytime I’ve been out to Lake Michigan!

Lake Michigan is amazing for:
- Senior sessions – It feels relaxed and adventurous. We always end up in the water at the end of the night and it’s so worth it every single time.
- Couples Sessions- It’s romantic, peaceful, and perfect for cozying up in the sand and soaking up the last of the sunlight together. Whether it’s an engagement session or just because, we never have a dull moment on the beach.
- Family sessions – The beach keeps things playful. We laugh, we run, we snuggle on a blanket. Fun family memories always come through at the lakeshore.
- Kid sessions – The beach is their playground! We run through the sand and splash our toes in the water. We want to capture your kids just being kids.

Some of my favorite spots?
While we travel the state to many beach locations, we’ve come to love a few spots and our clients have loved them too.
- Grand Haven State Park – Classic Michigan beach town feel with the lighthouse and boardwalk.
- P.J. Hoffmaster State Park – Beautiful dunes and peaceful vibes.
- Holland State Park – A perfect mix of beach and charm.
- Glen Haven Beach– An intimate beach surrounded by northern beauty.

Every session along the lakeshore feels like a little escape. If you’re dreaming of a fun, laid-back shoot by the water, let’s get yours scheduled for the next summer season. Be sure to check out our How To Prepare blog post for tips on making the most of your Lake Michigan photoshoot.
