Three years ago, I remember sitting alone in a hallway as my my oldest child was called into a classroom for kindergarten evaluation. Worry filled my body and nervous thoughts raced through my mind. I heard my name called and stood to see a women with the biggest most sincere smile. We sat down in a small office and she began to ask me questions about my daughter. Unlike other parents who casually answered questions, I started sobbing. I couldn’t image my baby being gone all day every day. What if she didn’t fit in? What if she was scared or lonely? What if she wasn’t ready? I didn’t know these people who I would be entrusting to care and guide my daughter every day. The woman sat there and listened politely, she reassured me and she hugged me when my time was up. Two days later she even went out of her way to call me and talk about classroom placement and make sure I was alright.
That wonderful woman who helped ME be ready for kindergarten (not my daughter who excitedly ran in on the first day without so much as a “bye mom”) is Teya Cotter, the principal at North Oakview. I could not imagine anyone else in this position, Mrs. Cotter is the perfect fit. She is kind and compassionate and sets a fantastic example for her staff and students. We have found our family at North and we truly love our school.
Currently, two of my three children attend North and my baby will be joining them next year. Long gone are the days when I cried over school, now I look forward the the learning and love they will receive. I am so thankful that I have a flexible schedule so I can volunteer and be involved with the school. So when the opportunity arose where I could give back to the school I jumped at the chance! For the rest of 2018 20% off all our mini sessions will be donated to North Oakview.
I met with the Cotter family last Sunday for their fall mini session at Lenderink’s Tree Farm (which is an amazing place by the way! Check out more of what they have to offer here) where we will be holding our Tree Farm Minis on November 3rd. With 3 five year olds the session was a blast! We enjoyed the beauty of the farm and making memories. I can’t wait to share this location with all of you!
Not only is Mrs. Cotter the principal, her 3 kiddos also attend North Oakview!
No family session is complete without a little flossing and dabbing 😀
I had so much fun working with the Cotters and would love to see some more North families at the farm or with Santa this fall!!!
Go Wildcats!
