August 21st, 2021 was a beautiful day for a Cedar Springs wedding. The temperature was warm but there was a perfect blue sky filled with white puffy clouds. The rain skipped over us and the events of the day went so smoothly. MaryKate and Matthew deserve nothing but the best! Especially since their wedding had to make so many changes throughout their planning process with all of the Covid restrictions. A wedding that was supposed to take place at a downtown Grand Rapids venue ended up taking place in a friend’s backyard but all of these changes were absolutely perfect!
I started my day off at the JW Marriot Hotel photographing the ladies getting ready while Keysha went over to the Amway Grand Hotel to photograph the gentlemen. We then hopped on a limo bus to head to the venue for their Cedar Springs wedding! This wasn’t any ordinary backyard wedding. It was complete with a gorgeous pond and all of the seating overlooking the water while the wedding itself took place on the other side of the pond. The reflections off of the water made for a stunning scene during their ceremony. We ended the evening dancing the night away surrounded by beautiful twinkle lights and a perfect evening sky.
These two and their families were just an absolute joy to work with. I did a lot of organizing with MaryKate’s mom, Laura, and she was just fantastic! She was on top of everything throughout the day making sure her kids had the best day ever. We ended the evening with a fun sparkler exit walking down the beautiful tree-lined drive way. I loved that they shot the champagne off at the end, it was the perfect touch!
