I’ve known Hannah for a couple of years now. She was part of the Ionia Free Fair court and I was able to photograph her during her reign on the court! When I saw that she was looking for a photographer to travel the country with her and her fiance to capture their wedding I was ecstatic at the idea! I reached out to her and told her how much we would love to do this for them and they graciously accepted our offer.
We first started off in the heart of Chicago. When we arrived the night before their wedding it was an awful snowstorm. Keysha and I decided we would try and walk to our hotel that was only 0.5 miles from the train station only to feel like we were lost in a blizzard. But alas, we made it to our hotel and had a gorgeous view overlooking the beautiful city. We were up bright and early the following morning to go meet Hannah and Joe at their hotel -The Congress Plaza Hotel- where they would be getting ready for their first look.
It was a magical moment and you could just see in their eyes how much love they shared for one another. As they would tell us later “when you know, you know!” We traveled around the city, getting a little rained on but that never stopped us. We went to the Field Museum to do some on the steps then made our way downtown near their reception venue- The Tortise Club to finish up before the wedding began.
The Tortise Club was a gorgeous intimate venue with the old jazz club vibe. Just big enough for the few friends and family members that were in attendance. The staff was phenomenal at getting everyone around and together and the room itself where they got married was beautiful! Don’t let me forget to mention how delicious the food was!!
We cannot wait to share with you the second half of their wedding adventure. Coming soon!
Thank you Hannah and Joe for bringing us along and letting us share in these moments with the two of you. It was one big check off our bucket list and we cannot wait to see what this life brings for the both of you!
